‘Fourth of July can`t matter until Black lives matter,` say Ypsilanti protesters on Independence Day

YPSILANTI, MI — Dozens of people showed up to Prospect Park in Ypsilanti Saturday to support Black Lives Matter and to say that the Fourth of July holiday doesn`t represent freedom for all. Event organizer Steven Daugherty said the Fourth of July holiday “wasn`t made for Black people,” saying Black people deal with oppression every day, and it`s been going on for too long. “It`s on everyone else in this country to stand up for (Black people)... Support from everybody is integral for things to actually change,” Daugherty said....
